Mass. man accused of possessing, distributing child sexual abuse materials

A 34-year-old man was arrested Wednesday morning on charges of possession and distribution of child sexual abuse material, federal prosecutors said.

Anthony Saint Jean, of Lowell, faces one count of distribution of child pornography and one count of possession of child pornography. Following his initial appearance in federal court in Boston Wednesday, he was detained pending a detention hearing set for Thursday, U.S. Attorney for Massachusetts Leah Foley’s office said in a statement.

Prosecutors say Saint Jean “knowingly distributed” videos depicting child sexual abuse between March 17, 2024 and Aug. 20, 2024. He is also accused of possessing child sexual abuse materials, some of which depicted the abuse of children under 12, according to the statement.

Each charge Saint Jean faces carries a sentence of up to 20 years in prison if convicted.
