Mass. man accused of hitting pedestrian with his car after argument

A Milford man who was accused of hitting a pedestrian with his car after an argument is facing a number of charges, including assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, police said.

At around 4:09 a.m. on Saturday, Milford police were sent to Milford Regional Hospital after a man walked into the hospital for treatment after being hit by a car, police said in a statement. The man told police he had a verbal argument with another man around 2:30 a.m. Saturday after telling him his car was parked in the middle of the road.

As he walked away, the man told police he heard the “acceleration of an engine” before being hit and upended by the vehicle, police said. Milford police found items belonging to the victim and pooling blood in the area of the crash.

Police then identified the suspect vehicle and its operator as 28-year-old Alejandro Gonzalez, of Milford, according to the statement. Gonzales was arrested at 5:48 a.m. Saturday and charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, a marked lanes violation, leaving the scene of an accident involving personal injury, and operating a motor vehicle negligently so as to endanger.
