A Massachusetts man is facing charges after police say he used his car to hit a Department of Public Works (DPW) worker.
Normally, residents have recycling pickup at their homes but they have been allowed to drop it off at the facility during the Republic Services strike. The drop off hours are from 12-6 p.m.
However, William Evans, 71, of Gloucester, arrived a little before noon. He refused to move his vehicle so as not to block DPW vehicles, police said.
Police were called due to Evans’ refusal to move. While on their way there, Evans drove his vehicle into the DPW worker, police said.
The worker was not injured.
Evans was charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and negligent operation of a motor vehicle.
