Mass. lotto player wins $25,000 a year for life in ‘Lucky for Life’ game

A lottery player from Massachusetts won $25,000 a year for life playing the “Lucky for Life” multi-state drawing game.

The winning numbers for the Dec. 28 drawing were 12, 17, 25, 34, 42 and Lucky Ball: 9.

The $25,000 a year for life winner matched all of the first five numbers on their ticket. The winning ticket was purchased at Winner’s Corner MA in North Andover.

“Lucky for Life” costs $2 per ticket to play. Players choose five numebrs between 1-48 and one number between 1-18. Drawings are held daily at 10:38 p.m.

However, the multi-state drawing game will be phased out of the Massachusetts State Lottery and all other lotteries in February 2026.

It will be replaced by a new drawing game called “Millionaire for Life,” which will have a top prize of $1 million a year for life. The game will also offer a secondary top prize of $100,000 a year for life.

Overall, at least 180 prizes worth $600 or more were won or claimed in Massachusetts on Sunday, including one in Springfield, three in Worcester and 15 in Boston.

The Massachusetts State Lottery releases a full list of winning tickets every day. The list only includes winning tickets worth more than $600.

The largest lottery prize won so far this year was worth $1 million a year for life, from a winning “Lifetime Millions” scratch ticket sold in Springfield and claimed in July.
