Mass. lottery player wins $2M Powerball prize in $1.27B drawing

A lottery player from Massachusetts won $2 million during the drawing for $1.27 billion on Wednesday night.

The winning numbers for the drawing were 5, 33, 53, 62, 66 and Powerball: 17.

The winning $2 million ticket sold in Massachusetts matched the first five numbers but not the Powerball number. It was also purchased as a PowerPlay ticket, which was a 4X on Wednesday night.

The ticket was bought in North Andover, at a shop called Winner’s Corner MA.

There were no Powerball jackpot winners on Wednesday night, rolling the prize to an estimated $1.5 billion as of Thursday morning.

With a cash value of $686.5 million, the prize has been rolling since Sept. 6, when two winning tickets split a $1.787 billion prize. The tickets were sold in Missouri and in Texas.

The next Powerball drawing will be held on Saturday, Dec. 20 at 10:59 p.m. Tickets cost $2 each and can be purchased at Massachusetts State Lottery retailers across the state until 9:50 p.m. Saturday.

Powerball drawings are held every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday.
