Mass. lottery player wins $1.97 million jackpot prize on Monday night

A lottery player in Massachusetts won a prize worth nearly $2 million during a jackpot drawing on Monday night.

The prize — a total of $1.97 million — was won during the “Megabucks” drawing on Monday. The winning numbers for the April 21 drawing were 8, 28, 29, 38, 42 and 43.

The person who matched all six numbers to win $1.97 million bought their winning ticket at Players Cafe in Hyde Park, in Boston.

“Megabucks” drawings are held at 9 p.m. every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday, tickets to play cost $2 and players must choose six numbers between 1-44.

Additionally, someone won $100,000 during Monday night’s “Mass Cash” drawing. The winning numbers for the drawing were 3, 14, 18, 25 and 29, and the winning ticket was sold at Little River Mart in Gloucester.

Overall, at least 268 prizes worth $600 or more were won or claimed in Massachusetts on Monday, including eight in Springfield, four in Worcester and 16 in Boston.

The Massachusetts State Lottery releases a full list of winning tickets every day. The list only includes winning tickets worth more than $600.

The two largest lottery prizes won so far in 2025 were each worth $15 million. One of the prizes was from a winning “Diamond Deluxe” scratch ticket sold in Holyoke, and the other was from a “300X” scratch ticket sold on Cape Cod.
