Rain and freezing temperatures are expected to cover Massachusetts this week.
A cold front is passing through Massachusetts Wednesday, “bringing much needed rainfall,” according to the National Weather Service.
Light to moderate rain is expected, especially during the morning commute. It is expected to end by early afternoon. Although, the rain could last until about 4 p.m. on Cape Cod.
Following the rain, there is expected to be much cooler weather.
On Wednesday afternoon, people will likely see more sunshine but the temperatures could go down, the weather service warned.
Then by Thursday night, temperatures could be in the high 20s with frost or freezing conditions. The high Thursday is around 51 degrees in the Berkshires. Other areas have highs of about 56 degrees.
A freeze watch has been issued for parts of Massachusetts, including Springfield, Worcester, Northampton and Cambridge.
The warning states the freezing temperatures could kill crops, other sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing.
It is expected to be the first fairly widespread frost conditions across southern New England of the season, according to the weather service.
