A deputy fire chief in Chelsea was placed on paid administrative leave after being arrested on charges including assault of a law enforcement officer in Nashville, Tennessee, according to officials and court records.
Michael Masucci, 53, was arrested in connection with an incident in Nashville on Aug. 3. He is charged with assault of a law enforcement officer, attempted assault of a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct, according to court records.
The incident occurred at a bar in downtown Nashville when prosecutors say Masucci shoved first responders away from a person they were trying to help, The Boston Globe reported, citing an affidavit filed in court.
Masucci is set to appear in court in Tennessee on Sept. 5 to settle the charges, records show.
“Earlier this week, the City of Chelsea was informed that Deputy Fire Chief Mike Masucci was arrested in Nashville, TN, on misdemeanor and felony charges,” said a city spokesperson. “Upon receiving this information, the City immediately placed the employee on paid administrative leave, a neutral procedural action that allows for a full and fair review while preserving the due process rights afforded to all public employees.”
“The Fire Department expects all members to uphold its Code of Conduct, and any potential violations are taken seriously and reviewed thoroughly,” the spokesperson added.
