A Marlborough dentist is facing charges in connection with using a secret camera he placed inside a toilet at his workplace to record people while they used the bathroom, the Middlesex County District Attorney’s Office announced Wednesday.
Marlborough resident Patrick Tu Huynh, 35, pleaded not guilty to seven counts of photographing a person in a state of nudity without consent, two counts of unlawful wiretapping and one count of destruction of property during his arraignment Wednesday in Marlborough District Court, according to court records. His lawyer, Attorney Francis Doran Jr., offered no comment when reached by phone that evening.
In May 2025, a dental assistant at New England Dental Group’s Marlborough location found a camera taped to a toilet in the business’ staff bathroom, the district attorney’s office said. The incident was reported to Huynh, who removed the camera and told the dental assistant he would try to figure out who put it there.
On Aug. 14, the dental assistant contacted Marlborough police to report that an identical camera had been found inside the same toilet, the district attorney’s office said. Someone had used dental wax and medical tape to attach the camera.
Authorities’ investigation into the camera indicated that Huynh had secretly placed it in the toilet to record audio and video of people using the bathroom, the district attorney’s office said. Footage discovered on the camera showed multiple videos of victims, as well as images of Huynh adjusting and cleaning the camera’s lens after it had been placed inside the toilet.
The seven counts of photographing a person in a state of nudity without consent are tied to offenses Huynh is alleged to have committed between the dates of July 21 and Aug. 14, according to court records. New England Dental Group did not immediately return a request for comment Wednesday evening.
During Huynh’s arraignment, the judge ordered him held on $10,000 and to stay away from New England Dental Group and the victims in the case, the district attorney’s office said. Huynh is due back in court on Sept. 25 for a pretrial hearing.
