Mass. Catholic high school teacher resigns over ‘inappropriate contact’ allegations

A teacher at Arlington Catholic High School has resigned after being accused of having “inappropriate contact” with students, according to school administrators.

School administrators were notified of the incident on Thursday, Dec. 14, after students reported it to other teachers the day before, the school’s administrative team said in a letter to families. Administrators placed the teacher on leave Thursday morning and had them escorted from the building.

Administrators began investigating the incident, but the teacher resigned later that morning, according to the letter. The administration is still investigating, as is the Arlington Police Department. The legal department at the Archdiocese of Boston was also notified.

“Our priority is to ensure a safe learning environment for the entire ACHS/SAS community. We are proud of our faculty members who promptly and without hesitation brought this incident to the Administration. All members of our community take seriously their role to protect our students and the school community as a whole,” school administrators wrote in the letter.

The letter did not identify the teacher or specify what the incident entailed, but WCVB reported that students said the teacher was male and had worked at the school for a long time.
