Blustery, cold conditions are in store for Massachusetts on Thursday, with high winds statewide, a chance for wind chill temps to hit single digits and more snow possibly on the way.
A wind advisory was in effect for all of Massachusetts from 10 a.m. on Thursday until 10 a.m. Friday, according to the National Weather Service.
Gusts between 35 and 50 mph are expected. Forecasters warned of possible power outages, along with tree limbs and unsecured objects that could be blown down. Driving may also be difficult.
Throughout the day, temperatures will be in the low to mid 20s in Western and Central Massachusetts, in the upper 20s in Eastern Massachusetts and in the 30s on Cape Cod & the Islands.
Wind chill readings may fall to the single digits overnight into Friday morning across the entire state, though Cape Cod & the Islands could linger in the low teens.
Friday is expected to be frigid with continued gusts up to 40 mph, with wind chills in the single digits above and below zero. Western and Central Massachusetts will be chilliest, forecasters say.
While conditions are expected gradually improve throughout the day on Friday, forecasters are monitoring the potential for snow late Saturday night into Sunday.
Meteorologists are still very uncertain on the weekend forecast as of Thursday morning as they track a hit-or-miss storm, which is not expected to be a major snow event if it does come to fruition. More cold air is on the way early next week.
