SEEKONK — Triple S BBQ helped me live out a life dream I didn’t know I had.
Apparently, there’s a part of me that had always wanted to eat that rack of giant brontosaurus ribs Fred gets delivered to his car at the end of “The Flintstones” intro.
That’s essentially what I got when I got an order of the “beef dino ribs” from this hidden gem BBQ joint just over the border from Rhode Island.

Here’s where I ran into an issue. The term “dino ribs” is an apt descriptor for what I ordered. The same cannot be said for what my receipt called a “mac & cheese bowl with pulled pork and burnt ends.”
No, the only name I could think of that accurately describes what was served to me is “meat iceberg.”

Triple S BBQ in Seekonk | Nick Ate It
Triple S BBQ is a meaty miracle. Its location is unassuming. From the road, you’re as likely to notice the kitchen remodeling spot next door.
That is, except for two key features: two giant smokers in the parking lot and the omnipresent line leading out the door.
I got to Triple S BBQ 15 minutes before its doors opened. There were already 15 people in front of me waiting in the 30-degree cold just before noon on a Thursday.
Why? The food is that good.

Nothing sums up the Triple S experience like the “fully loaded mac bowl.” I prefer to call it the “meat iceberg” because you can’t quite grasp the sheer caloric calamity this item represents without looking beneath the surface.
That’s because the entire thing is covered in a mountain of brilliantly smoked meats. You have to dig through it all like a pork prospector before finding the motherlode of golden mac & cheese underneath.
It’s not just big. It’s delicious. The pulled pork and brisket are cooked beautifully, with this amazing raspberry chipotle sauce singing an aria of flavors that had my brain doing backflips.
While the mac bowl was a constantly evolving experience of delicious discovery, the beef dino ribs were a pure meat marathon.
In terms of sheer mass, I don’t know if I’ve ever had anything like this. The meat is fall-off-the-bone tender. No matter how hard you try, it feels like you’re barely making a dent.
It’s a good thing everything comes in aluminum takeout trays. Finishing everything in one sitting is a challenge.

What else is on the menu?
While the meats are the highlight, Triple S also has some wonderful sides.
The mac & cheese is thick, creamy and satisfying. The sweet potato cornbread is intoxicating with its flavor and moistness.
For dessert, Triple S has slices of smoked cheesecake available in rotating flavors. I got the strawberry shortcake version, which was delicious. The smoke is noticeable. But it’s a subtle background flavor.
Triple S also offers its meats in sandwich form and in trays. Their chicken wings and pork belly pinwheels are also a big hit.

What it’s like to visit Triple S BBQ
The food at Triple S BBQ is fantastic. However, it is not a convenient place to eat — or particularly cheap.
The secret is out. As a result, the lines are pretty rough. All orders are made at the counter and are handed out in to-go packaging.
There are a few stool seats at the window along with some outdoor tables. But for the most part, customers take their food to go.
I was impressed by how well the Triple S crew worked in the kitchen. But even so, a lot of these orders are large and complex. As a result, the line moves pretty slowly.
That’s partly because of how much food people try to get. A couple who were two spots in front of me in line ran up a $330 order, with the tip bringing the total to $392.
Before going to visit, be aware of the prices. Orders aren’t cheap, but the portion sizes are worth it.
A basic pulled pork sandwich with a choice of side runs $17. Meanwhile, a loaded mac & cheese bowl is $30.
That massive beef dino rib comes with a side and goes for $32.
Triple S opens at noon and stays open until they’re fully sold out. In recent weeks, they have sold out as early as 2:30 p.m. on a Saturday. Most days, it looks like the they’ve been going into the 3 p.m. hour.
You can check the Triple S Facebook page to see if they’ve sold out. They typically post the time when they’ve been cleaned out.
