A man was pulled from the Westfield River and brought to the hospital, West Springfield police told MassLive.
The man was swimming in the river and his friends attempted to pull him out of the water, Sgt. Paulita Hannah said.
“Unfortunately, they didn’t get to him in time,” Hannah said Friday afternoon.
