Man stabbed his nephew to death at Mass. apartment in self-defense, defense lawyer says

The defense lawyer representing a man accused of stabbing his nephew to death during an argument at a New Bedford apartment Saturday afternoon claims his client did so in self-defense.

Police have charged 43-year-old Puerto Rico resident Juan Padilla-Santana with murder in connection with the death of 23-year-old Omil Padilla-Corsino, the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office said previously.

New Bedford police found Padilla-Corsino with life-threatening stab wounds inside an apartment at 68 South St. the afternoon of Aug. 24., according to the district attorney’s office. He was rushed to St. Luke’s Hospital but declared dead a short time later.
