A man convicted of sexually assaulting a woman when she was young will go to prison for almost five decades, Plymouth County District Attorney Tim Cruz’s office announced Friday.
Aaron Cavanaugh, 58, was found guilty of 26 charges all in connection with the repeated sexual assault of a girl over several years, Cruz’s office said in a statement released on X. Plymouth Superior Court Judge Elaine Buckley sentenced Cavanaugh to serve 45 to 48 years at Souza-Baranowski Correctional Center.
In 2021, a woman spoke with Plymouth police to report that Cavanaugh repeatedly sexually assaulted her between 2004 and 2013, when she was a girl, Cruz’s office said. An investigation began, leading to Cavanaugh being indicted by a grand jury before he was arraigned in December 2021.
