Man killed in Worcester shooting, police ask public for tips

A 24-year-old man was killed in a shooting in Worcester early Saturday morning, according to police.

Officers were called to Allendale Street just before 2:20 a.m. after the city’s ShotSpotter system — which alerts police to sounds of gunfire — activated in the area, Worcester police said in a press release. At the scene, they found a 24-year-old man who was unresponsive.

Officers tried to aid the man medically before he was taken to a hospital, but he was declared dead at the hospital, police said. Authorities are still investigating the shooting.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to send an anonymous tip to Worcester police at 274637 or worcesterma.gov/police. You can also call Worcester police detectives at (508) 799-8651.
