The Massachusetts Department of Public Health reported the first human case of eastern equine encephalitis (EEE) in Massachusetts this year.
The person is a Worcester County male resident in his 80s, according to public health officials. No further information was provided.
This is the first human to be infected with EEE in Massachusetts since 2020, according to Public Health Commissioner Robbie Goldstein.
