Man injured when ski lift chair falls 20 feet at N.H. resort

A man was injured Sunday after he fell 20 feet from a ski lift at Attitash Mountain Resort.

At about 12:15 p.m. on Feb. 2, a man fell after the chair he was in on Flying Bear lift dislodged, according to the New Hampshire State Fire Marshal’s office.

Witnesses told the state fire marshal’s office that the man was conscious and walking after the fall. He was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

A mechanical failure caused one of the chairs to dislodge from the cable, the state fire marshal’s office said in a press release. The manufacturer of the lift was also contacted and is helping with the investigation.

No other injuries were reported and all other passengers that were on the lift got off normally at the top. The lift then closed.

It is remaining closed while the investigation continues. Anyone with information is asked to contact the New Hampshire State Fire Marshal’s Office at (603) 223-4289 or fmo@dos.nh.gov.
