A man died after he fell onto the electrified third rail at the MBTA’s Park Street Station in downtown Boston Saturday morning, according to Transit Police.
At around 11:58 a.m., the man, who police say appeared to be “impaired and/or under the influence of some intoxicant,” was standing on the southbound platform at the station. The man, who was not identified, was unsteady on his feet and stumbled into the track below, landing on the electrified third rail, Transit Police Superintendent Richard Sullivan wrote in an email.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene. Transit Police say foul play is not suspected in his death.
