A homicide investigation is underway after a man was stabbed to death at a gas station in Chicopee over the weekend, the Hampden County District Attorney’s Office reported.
Police responded for a reported stabbing on the 90 block of West Street around 3 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 6, the office said. Upon arrival, officers found a man with an apparent stab wound.
He was taken to Baystate Medical Center where he later died, the office reported. The man’s name was not released.
Chicopee police said they closed the Shell gas station at 95 West Street Sunday afternoon as investigators looked into “an incident” but did not say what had happened.
A photo posted in the Chicopee MA forum Facebook group showed several police cruisers outside of the station, with some blocking the entrances to the parking lot. It is unknown how long the store was closed.
The investigation is ongoing.
