Man dies after being shot in Mass. city alleyway Tuesday afternoon

A 40-year-old man died after being shot in a Brockton alleyway Tuesday afternoon, the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office announced that evening.

Brockton police responded to multiple reports of gunfire near Crescent and Montello Streets shortly before 4 p.m., Brockton police spokesperson Darren Duarte said previously. At the scene, first-responders found two injured victims, though only one had been shot. Both were taken by ambulance to local hospitals.

The man who had been shot was brought to Brockton Hospital where he was declared dead, the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office said. He was not identified publicly Tuesday evening, as his family had not yet been notified of his death.

The Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office is actively investigating the shooting. No arrests have been announced, and no further information has been released.
