Man charged in connection with fatal stabbing of 47-year-old at Mass. home

A 21-year-old man is facing charges in connection with the fatal stabbing of a 47-year-old man at their Melrose home last Friday, the Middlesex County District Attorney’s Office said.

Nathan Baldi, of Melrose, was charged with assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury in connection with the stabbing death of James Percent, the office said.

Percent was found unresponsive and with stab wounds inside a home on Ledge Street shortly after 7 p.m. on Oct. 27, the office said. He was brought to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Investigators believe that Percent got into a fight with a woman at the house when at some point Baldi, who also lived in the home, got involved. Both men were stabbed during the fight, according to the office.

Baldi was also hospitalized for his injuries. He will be arraigned Tuesday in Malden District Court, officials said.

The incident remains under investigation by the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office, Massachusetts State Police Detectives assigned to the District Attorney’s Office and Melrose Police.
