A building on Main Street in Hopkinton caved towards the sidewalk in a sudden partial collapse Wednesday afternoon.
Police and firefighters responded to the incident at 52 Main St. shortly before 2:45 p.m., the Hopkinton Police and Fire Departments said in a joint press release. The preliminary investigation indicates that a demolition crew was working to take down the former Hopkinton Drug building at the intersection of Main and Grove Streets (Routes 135 and 85) when part of the structure unexpectedly fell down into the street.

Police and firefighters quickly secured the area and searched through the debris, according to the release. No one was injured in the collapse, but traffic on Route 135 became congested while the road was reduced to one lane to allow first responders to secure the area.
Police and firefighters are investigating the incident.
