WRAP IT UP! – Gift Wrapping Night: Thursday, Dec. 18th at the Community House from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Bring your gifts and your own wrapping supplies and enjoy dedicated space away from curious family members. This event is free and designed to give you a productive evening during the busiest time of year. Invite a friend or two and make it a social night out! Food Explorers Holiday Camp, Grades 3-6: Monday, Dec. 29th from 2 to 5 p.m. Calling all food-loving kids! This hands-on, half-day cooking camp is perfect for aspiring chefs who are ready to take their kitchen skills to the next level. Campers will create two recipes from scratch: Sugar Cookie Trifles and Tacos with Homemade Tortillas. Your chef will learn real cooking techniques, kitchen safety, and the science behind the food they make. Learn more and register at www.lprd.net.
Science of Toys with Fantastic Fliers, Grades K-5: Monday, Dec. 29th. Join Mad Science 9 a.m. to noon for “Science of Toys: Both familiar and novel gadgets are investigated.” Children discover how motors make toys move and play with tops to learn about potential and kinetic energy. Balancing toys are used to familiarize children with the center of gravity. They find out that opposite poles attract each other when experimenting with magnetic toys. Fantastic Fliers: Fantastic Students will learn about the four forces which affect a plane in flight: drag, gravity, lift and forward thrust; and they will witness, experience, play with, and use these forces to their advantage in the construction of incredible paper planes! Cupcakes and Pizza Party Art-ventures, Gr. K-5: Tuesday, Dec. 30th. Join ART-ventures 9 a.m. to noon and get ready to whip up some artsy treats that look almost yummy enough to eat! Paint colorful ceramic cupcake banks and sculpt clay pizzas with all your favorite toppings! Plus, design and decorate chef hats to wear in your own crafty kitchen! Register at www.lprd.net.
Cap Kids Basketball Program, Grades 1-3. Learn and practice basketball skills through fun dribbling, passing and shooting games. All skill levels welcome. Musical Notes for Infants, Toddlers & Preschoolers Clap your hands, tap your feet and sing along with Jon O’Neill in this fun-filled program for parents and children. Jon will combine songs with dance and musical instruments for children of all ages in this six-week program that begins Jan. 7th.
