WESTFIELD – Much like the boys basketball team in their season opener, the Westfield girls’ hoops team delivered a gritty, gutsy effort in their first game of the 2023-24 season and figured out to how to get it done in the end.
Westfield senior guard Lexi Sanchez scored a game-high 22 points and the Bombers soared past West Springfield at home Tuesday evening, 40-35. A 7-0 fourth quarter run proved to be the difference for the Bombers, who scored all seven points in just 32 seconds.
