A legendary pizza shop that has called New Haven its home for the last 87 years is now offering a slice of its signature pies in Boston for the first time.
Sally’s Apizza opened its new location at South Bay Center in Dorchester on Tuesday, Sept. 30. The opening comes two years after Sally’s opened its first Massachusetts location in Woburn in 2023.
“We’re thrilled to expand our footprint with the opening of our second Massachusetts restaurant here in Dorchester,” Brand Advisor Christian Bonaventura said in a press release.
“The success of Sally’s in nearby Woburn has stoked a passionate flame in the Boston area, and we can’t wait to bring our unique brand of excitement, which includes nods to a number of famous former and current Dorchester residents, to more of our fans,” he said. “We’ve got a really fun lineup of entertainment for our grand opening event!”
The Dorchester Sally’s has the brand’s 10 signature pizzas including the classic Tomato Sauce Pie, Mozzarella & Tomato and Potato & Rosemary. A rotating selection of additional seasonal pies will also be available.
In addition to pizza, Sally’s serves several appetizers, salads and entrees from Italian wings and meatballs to chicken parmesan rigatoni vodka. Diners can also pair their meal with beer, wine or a specialty cocktail such as Amalfi Lemonade and Sunday Sauced. Non-alcoholic options and fountain sodas, including New Haven original Foxon Park, are also available.
Sally’s Apizza in Dorchester is located at 9 District Ave. The restaurant is open from 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
Sally’s Apizza was founded on Wooster Street in New Haven in 1938 with pizza known for its signature tomato sauce and thin crust with an iconic char. The restaurant has since expanded to open several locations throughout Connecticut and Massachusetts. The company has also revealed plans to open locations in Seaport and Concord, New Hampshire in the near future.
