Lawmakers should add mandatory registry to long-delayed ‘revenge porn’ measure (Editorial)

A proposed bill banning revenge porn, again making its way through the Statehouse, would finally make it a crime in Massachusetts to distribute visual images (including those made by digitization, so-called “deep fakes”) where the offender’s intent is to cause harm or emotional distress.

We’d say better late than never, but lawmakers don’t deserve that – having failed in the last session to deal with a problem already confronted by 48 states.
