The largest lottery prize won in Massachusetts so far in 2024 was claimed on Wednesday from a $50 scratch ticket — less than a month after the previously-largest prize was won.
The prize was from “Lifetime Millions,” and was worth $1 million a year for life. It was the first grand prize to be claimed in the game, which was released in February by the Massachusetts State Lottery. There are still two $1 million a year for life prizes remaining in the game as of July 10.
The winner opted to receive their prize in the form of a one-time payment, instead of annual payments, to receive $15.4 million before taxes. The winning ticket was claimed Wednesday by trustee Greg Racki of Merjon Tangovan Nominee Trust of Boston.
On June 13, another lottery player claimed a $15 million prize from the “300X” scratch ticket. It was the highest prize claimed this year before the “Lifetime Millions” ticket was claimed.
The winning $1 million a year for life ticket was bought at Northside Market & Liquors, located at 44 North Rd. in Bedford. The store will receive a $50,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.
