Ky. sheriff’s deputy dies on duty after medical emergency

LARUE COUNTY, Ky. — A LaRue County sheriff’s deputy died while on duty Friday, according to county officials.

Nick Green, a seven-year veteran of law enforcement died of a medical issue, according to a social media post made by the sheriff’s department.

Green’s exact cause of death is unknown. The sheriff’s department announced Green’s death Saturday.

Sheriff Brian Smith wrote that Green was an asset to the department, and liked by all that knew him.

“Deputy Green brought smiles to faces every time he worked, and we will miss him very much,” Smith wrote. “Please keep Nick’s children, and family in your thoughts and prayers as they navigate through this horrible tragedy.”

LaRue County is south of Louisville, and about 85 miles southwest of Lexington .
