Jury deliberations resume Monday in Brian Walshe murder trial

Jury deliberations continue Monday morning in the murder trial of Brian Walshe, the man accused of killing, then dismembering his wife, Ana, in their Cohasset home in January 2023.

The jury of six men and six women deliberated for about three-and-a-half hours before being sent home on Friday. Judge Diane Freniere gave jurors the option to deliberate longer, but the panel indicated they wanted to go home.

Jurors sent a question Friday shortly after beginning their deliberations, asking for the exhibit number for a specific photo entered into evidence. Freniere gave them a list of all the exhibits.

Walshe, 50, is accused of killing his wife, Ana, in their home on the early morning of New Year’s Day 2023, then dismembering her body and disposing of her remains at dumpsters across the state. Before the trial started, Walshe pleaded guilty to two charges, admitting that he moved his wife’s body and misled the police investigation into her disappearance.

Jurors have not learned of the guilty pleas.

Walshe’s defense has said Ana Walshe died a sudden, unexplained death of natural causes and that he panicked after finding her dead.

Prosecutors presented evidence across eight days to the jury before resting their case on Wednesday. Walshe’s defense rested on Thursday without calling a single witness, despite indications that Walshe would take the stand in his own defense.

Both sides delivered closing arguments on Friday morning.
