Judge lifts restrictions on Longmeadow man behind the wheel in crash that killed a classmate

SPRINGFIELD — A Western Massachusetts juvenile court judge eased the conditions of release for a Longmeadow man awaiting trial on a vehicular homicide charge related to a 2022 crash that left one teen dead and involves an allegation of underage drinking.

Zachary Elfman, now 21, was allegedly behind the wheel of a car that collided with a tree at the end of Green Willow Drive in Longmeadow after a night of revelry with his high school classmates.

He was charged as an adult after a police investigation, meaning he would face penalties usually reserved for adult courts if convicted.
