Jeffrey Viel fights to defend Bruins teammate

While Jeffrey Viel came into the 2025-26 season with a reputation as a fighter, the Bruins’ fourth-line forward has attempted to play more disciplined to offer a more complete game.

But when Duck defenseman Radko Gudas undercut Mikey Eyssimont, sending the Boston forward tumbling to the ice, Viel jumped into action.

He’d already pitched away his gloves when he confronted Goudas as the two squared off. Viel landed several shots before the Ducks defenseman wrapped him up and shoved him to the ice. Gudas appeared to throw a punch while Viel was on the ice.

In addition to the five-minute major, Viel also assessed a minor and misconduct for instigating. Viel went to the dressing room. It was unclear if that was for injury or because he’d been given 17 minutes of penalties with 17:47 left in the game.
