Health inspection violations can range from cutting boards having deep knife marks, making them harder to clean, to live rodents living in dining rooms and kitchens.
Rodents or insects are considered a critical violation, while other infractions might be considered non-critical violations, or a violation that does not seriously affect the public health.
Either way, the Boston health inspectors notice it all, documenting their reports online for the public.
Is your local Dunkin’ passing health inspections? What’s happening at your local Starbucks? Are there violations at Shake Shack?
In November, Star Market on 45 William T Morrissey Blvd., Legal Sea Foods’ Copley Place location and Subway at 904 Huntington Ave. had evidence of mice. Caffe Nero in Roxbury had evidence of rodents, while rodent “urine stains” could be seen at a CVS in Dorchester.
A Shake Shack location, which opened in 2016 as the 100th Shake Shack, failed its health inspection on Nov. 18, after health inspectors reported seeing rodent activity behind the heating system, custard machine and grease trap. They also saw “heavy food soils” on the outside of multiple plastic bulk item buckets.
