In the market for homemade art, crafts? Worcester festival is Sunday

Nearly 3/4 of a mile of Park Avenue in Worcester will be lined with artist and crafter booths Sunday for the stART on the Street Festival.

In addition to 250 artists and crafters selling their homemade goods, the free festival will feature live music, fencing, belly dancing, capoiera, interactive features for all ages, street performers and more, according to the festival’s website.

When visitors get hungry, they will have several dining options, including food trucks, local restaurants and vegan options, the website says.

The festival has been held in Worcester for more than two decades. It was started by a group of independent local artists in 2002 with the goal of changing the cultural scope of Worcester and Central Massachusetts, according to the website.

The Sept. 17 festival starts at 11 a.m. and runs to 6 p.m. on the section of Park Avenue between Highland and Pleasant streets.

The Worcester Police Department advises that the section of the street will be closed from 6:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. and, due to heavy pedestrian crowds, advises motorists to use caution and avoid the area.
