Jaylen Brown playing in the BIG3 All-Star Game in London over the weekend meant a lot to Ice Cube, who shared praise for the Celtics star on X, formerly known as Twitter, on Saturday.

“Jaylen Brown is my hero. He’s making a humongous statement by being the first current NBA player to play in a BIG3 game,” Ice Cube posted. “By suiting up for our All Star game tomorrow, he’s doing everything in his power to help the league succeed. Salute. Forever grateful…”

Brown became the active NBA player to be play in a BIG3 game.

Ice Cube, the founder of the BIG3, recently said the NBA was blocking the BIG3 from getting proper coverage, which is also stunting the league’s growth.

“What I want them to do, when I say ‘Work with us,’ is to stop working against us,” he said in the video posted to X on June 25.

The BIG3 is in its sixth season and Ice Cube is ready to be taken seriously.

Maybe having someone like Brown, who recently signed a supermax extension with the Celtics, will lead to other big-name players to participate in some of the 3-on-3 action. Brown revealed during his press conference after signing his deal that Ice Cube was one of the many people who reached out to him.

That remains to be seen, but Brown’s participation certainly meant a lot to Ice Cube.
