PITTSFIELD – The Monument Mountain boys basketball team was jolted by a harsh reality midway through the third quarter of Saturday’s Western Mass. Class B finals.
Holding a seven-point lead over Pittsfield, the Spartans’ star player, Manny Brown, soared for a jumper, but as he came down, he landed on a Pittsfield defender’s foot, and his left ankle buckled beneath him. He collapsed to the floor as his cries of pain cut through the tension in the gym.
