Interstate 95 northbound in Woburn is closed, except for the breakdown lane, after an overturned truck spilled wood chips across the road, according to a Massachusetts State Police statement.
The highway remained closed, except for the breakdown lane, as of 3:30 p.m.
The six-wheel truck was towing a two-axle wood chipper when it flipped over at about 2:20 p.m. A heavy-duty tow truck was needed to remove the truck and wood chipper, according to the statement.
“For the safety of motorists and first responders, officials closed all travel lanes and diverted traffic into the breakdown lane,” the statement said.
The crash remains under investigation.
