Authorities are investigating the theft of hundreds of LGBTQ+ Pride flags from a rotary in Carlisle earlier this week, according to police.
Police were notified Monday more than 200 Pride flags placed in the rotary in the center of the town at the intersection of Lowell Street, Bedford Road and Westford Road were stolen overnight, the Carlisle Police Department said in a statement.
The flags were last seen Sunday night and were stolen sometime overnight, according to the department’s statement.
The department is investigating the theft and asking the public for help. Anyone with information on the theft is asked to call the department at (978) 369-1155, the statement noted.
“We are taking this very seriously,” Carlisle Chief of Police Andrew Amendola said in the statement. “It is unfortunate, as Carlisle is an inclusive community, and we want everyone to feel safe and welcomed here.”
