“A Sorority Mom’s Guide to Rush” pulls back the curtain on sorority rush, but behind almost every perfectly curated outfit and resume is a mom who has her own reasons for wanting her daughter to receive a bid, according to Lifetime’s description of the series.
Rush is a multi-day process where potential new members (PNMs) meet and evaluate sorority chapters at their university to find a suitable “fit” for membership. The sororities also decide which members they want to welcome into their sisterhood and offer them bids at the end of the process.
Rush involves several rounds of themed events, where PNMs attend initial open houses to meet every sorority and later, more intimate events with their preferred chapters. After they submit their choices, PNMs receive an invitation to join a specific sorority on Bid Day, completing the recruitment process.
Sorority rush has taken over social media over the last few years, better known as #RushTok, and shows videos of girls participating in the rush process.
