How no-cost job training and education programs are helping Valley workers, workplaces

SPRINGFIELD — On any given morning, Sulimar Flores, 41, is behind the wheel of a tractor-trailer delivering frozen and fresh food to a grocery warehouse in Western Massachusetts. Only a year ago, she was working in an auto parts warehouse, uninspired by the job and struggling to make ends meet on the meager pay. Now, she’s hitched herself to a new career, and she’s tripled her income.

“I was hired to do my dream job,” she said. “My life is more comfortable. I have money for a house and to do fun stuff with my son. I can pay my bills on time and enjoy my life.”
