Cole Strange won’t have to wait long to face his old teammates.
After the Patriots cut their oft-injured former draft disappointment at the end of training camp, Strange was signed to the Cleveland Browns practice squad.
But with the Dolphins in need of offensive line help, Strange packed his suitcases again and signed with Miami on Tuesday.
Strange said his new coaches and teammates have been picking his brain about the Patriots, who visit South Florida on Sunday at 1 p.m.
Asked what he’s been telling them, Strange said:
“Everything I can. Getting rid of all their secrets,” he told the Miami Herald. He added that he’d given them “tips and pointers,” but “I don’t think it’s a major edge.”
Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel said they signed him for his blocking, not for intel on a division opponent.
“He’s here because of his own merit, and we’re excited to have him,” McDaniel said. “I think all the way back to when he was coming out of college, he has a lot of skill set that we utilize in terms of quickness and his ability to press on an angle and block people.”
Strange, a guard out of Tennessee-Chattanooga, was the Patriots’ first-round pick in 2022, a move that raised eyebrows at the time.
He spent three seasons with the Patriots, but has battled injuries that limited his effectiveness, availability and growth. He missed most of last year with a patella tendon injury.
