How Bruins’ Jake DeBrusk influenced an All-Star game he wasn’t at

“Always Pasta in that scenario. Always the shooter. (Swayman) knows our moves. I saw a clip of it on our way back. I like the adjustment he made to get Sway. It’s one of those things they probably had a really good laugh about it,” DeBrusk said smiling playfully. “We’re probably going to get Sway some trouble for it.”

Pastrnak scored twice on his Bruins teammate, beating Swayman once in regulation and once in the shootout. DeBrusk didn’t expect to hear his own name in reference to the shootout goal as he was traveling back from St. Barts.

But Pastrnak said he knows Swayman is familiar with his cadre of shootout moves so he borrowed one.

“In the shootout, he knows all my moves so I did a little JD move. It was fun,” Pastrnak said.

Swayman saw it the same way.

“He’s got a couple go-to moves. I thought he was going to go glove side,” Swayman said. “He pulled a Jake DeBrusk on me. It was a good move. I was pleasantly surprised.”

DeBrusk said it was more a cousin to one of his moves than an identical twin.

“It was a little floater. He actually went against the grain. I’ve never actually done that,” DeBrusk said. “I’ve got some questions about that. Funny that they both shouted me out there. (pausing to smile mischievously) That’s probably why it worked.”
