MONTREAL — There are two Bruins and three Massachusetts natives on the roster for Team USA, who played Finland in both team’s first game in the NHL 4 Nations Face-Off.
Here’s how they fared:
Matt Boldy — The Millis native who starred for Boston College and plays for the Minnesota Wild had a memorable debut in best-on-best play. After earning an assist on Brady Tkachuk’s goal in the first period, he redirected Brock Faber’s shot by Juuse Saros to put Team USA ahead late in the second period. He was named the third star of the game.
Jack Eichel — The North Chelmsford native who starred at BU had assists on the Americans’ fifth and sixth goals. The move to create the line with Eichel and Brady and Matthew Tkachuk seemed to ignite the Americans. He won 12 of 22 faceoffs.
Charlie McAvoy — The Bruins defenseman was third on Team USA in ice time. He played 19 minutes, 45 seconds over a team-high 27 shifts. He was plus-2.
He was a primary penalty killer with 2:29 of shorthanded time.
Bruins goalie Jeremy Swayman and Boxford native Chris Kreider — were each healthy scratches for the Americans.
