How are former Bruins faring in new spots?

The 2023-24 Bruins season is going to be filled with reunions as the Bruins will take on several guys who played in black and gold during last year’s record-setting regular season. They faced Nick Foligno and Taylor Hall and the Chicago Blackhawks already on opening night.

They’ll face the Blackhawks again Tuesday in Chicago in a game that Hall will miss due to injury.

Tyler Bertuzzi, Craig Smith, Tomas Nosek, Garnet Hathaway, Dmitry Orlov and Connor Clifton will each visit TD Garden this year. All will be in new uniforms, most will be a little bit richer.

Here’s a look at how they’re doing on the ice:

Nick FolignoThe 35-year-old forward’s leadership has been valued wherever he’s been and on the rebuilding Blackhawks, he already has a letter on his jersey as an alternate captain. He’s got a goal and two assists skating on the third line in Chicago. He has two assists in five games.

Tyler Bertuzzi — The trade-deadline acquisition from the Red Wings was one of the Bruins best offensive players in the playoffs and one they’d hoped to find a way to re-sign. Bertuzzi didn’t get the long and lucrative deal he was hoping for against a still flat salary cap. Hoping to make more next year when the cap expands, he signed a one-year deal for $5.5 million in hopes of having a big year. He’s off to a slow start with one goal and no assists in five games.

Dmitry Orlov — The Bruins’ rugged deadline acquisition has struggled out of the gate in Carolina, where he signed a two-year deal for $7.75 million per year. In fact, Orlov, who signed a deal for two years and $7.75 million per year, is dead last in the NHL in plus/minus at -10. He has two assists in six games.

Tomas NosekHe signed in New Jersey as the Bruins chose to get younger and slightly less expensive in their fourth-line center role, a job won by Johnny Beecher. Nosek played two games for the Devils before being sidelined by a lower-body injury that put him in a walking boot and on IR for the time being.

Connor Clifton — His totals aren’t as bad as Orlov’s but Cliffy Hockey hasn’t thrived so far in Buffalo. Before Monday night’s game against Montreal, he was -6 in five games with no points for the Sabres. Clifton signed a 3-year deal worth $3.3 million per season during the offseason.

Garnet Hathaway

Garnet Hathaway – After arriving at the trade deadline with Orlov, Hathaway was a solid bottom-six grinder for the Bruins in his short stay. He signed in Philadelphia for two years at $2.375 million, but had to give $5,000 back for a dangerous hit.

AJ Greer

A.J. Greer — When the Bruins waived A.J. Greer on roster deadline day, they had hoped to send him to Providence and have him potentially available later in the year. But the Flames claimed him. In six games for Calgary, has one assist and four penalty minutes.
