House fire in Mass. kills one man, sends another to hospital with injuries

One man was killed and another was injured in a house fire in Carver Wednesday night, according to the Carver Fire Department.

Firefighters responded to the two-story home just before 11 p.m. and arrived within three minutes, the fire department said in a press release. When they arrived, they found heavy flames coming from the home and learned that a person was trapped inside.

Firefighters quickly entered the house and found a man on the first floor, but he was declared dead at the scene, the fire department said. A second person escaped the home and was taken to a hospital with injuries.

Officials did not know how badly the second man was injured or what condition he was in as of early Thursday morning, the fire department said. No firefighters were injured while responding to the fire.

Carver firefighters, Massachusetts State Police and the state Fire Marshal’s Office are still investigating the cause of the fire, the fire department said. No further information, including the identity of the victim, has been released.
