HOLYOKE — Along with daffodils and tulips popping up earlier this spring, a garden of signs declaring “Save Elmwood Forest” began to grow on front lawns throughout Ward 3, first only a scattering and then up to 100 or so.
The signs were created by a neighborhood group formed in opposition to the possible development of 22.5 forested acres for a new multimillion dollar sports complex centered around volleyball.
