High wind watch issued for Berkshire County for Sunday and Monday

A high wind watch was issued by the National Weather Service on Saturday at 3:36 a.m. valid from Sunday 7 p.m. until Monday 7 p.m. for Berkshire County.

“West winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 60 mph possible,” explains the weather service. “Widespread icing adding additional weight on trees and power lines before the high winds arrive could exacerbate tree damage and downed power lines.”

“Damaging winds could blow down trees and power lines. Widespread power outages are possible. Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles,” adds the weather service. “Monitor the latest forecasts and warnings for updates.”
