Here’s what Medway parents, Gaza war survivors hope happens in Gaza

The Okal family left the war in Gaza in November, but in the months since the war has not left them.

Abood Okal, 37, and Wafaa Abuzayda, 30, with their then-1-year-old son Yousef were in Gaza for a family vacation when war broke out after a surprise Hamas attack on Israel that killed 1,200 people on Oct. 7. Since then, Israeli bombardments have leveled much of Gaza, killing over 39,000 Palestinians, injuring over 91,000 and displacing about 1.9 million people in Gaza, according to the United Nations.
