There were 167 eligible players for the PWHL Draft on Monday night as the league prepares for Year 2, and PWHL Boston now has six new players.
Boston’s first pick was Hannah Bilka (fourth overall) in the opening round. The forward played four seasons at Boston College before she transferred to Ohio State University and helped the Buckeyes to the 2024 NCAA women’s championship.
Boston originally had the fourth, 10th, 16th, 22nd, 28th, 33rd, and the 40th pick in the linear draft — a different format from last year’s snake draft. But a trade with PWHL New York gave the team the No. 7 pick in the second round in order to draft defender Daniela Pejšová. In exchange, New York got picks 16 and 28.

Boston, who fell in Game 5 of the Walter Cup Final to PWHL Minnesota, finished 8-4-3-9 in the PWHL’s inaugural season. The team has several players up for annual awards, which will be announced Tuesday night. Courtney Kessel is also a finalist for Coach of the Year.
The PWHL will enter its second season in 2025. All six teams played without names or logos, but that is expected to change come August.
