Hadley Barnes and Noble workers walkout after filing unfair labor practice complaint

The unionized workers of the Hadley Barnes and Noble location walked off the job Friday afternoon after an unfair labor practice complaint was filed.

Drew Weisse, organizing director for the Food and Commercial Workers Local 1459, said the approximately one dozen union workers employed at the 335 Russell St., Hadley, store walked out at about 2 p.m. and remained off the job until 5 p.m. when they returned to work.

“This is an ongoing issue for staff,” Weisse said. “The company sends management personnel from other stores rather than hiring replacement staff when someone quits.”
